    Celestial Tools NASRmethod/LOP function

    Stan,

When I look at the NASR method in Celestial Tools, there is a read out for “DR-LOP Distance;” is this a NASR method ‘internal conversion’ to show the measure of the intercept from the DR position as if it were performed strictly using the LoC sight reduction method?  Same question asked another way:  When I reduce the sight by hand using what I will refer to as the Law of Cosine, LoC, method, and by using your LoC specific sight reduction software in Celestial Tools, I obtain an LOP of 0.6nm A.  When I use Celestial Tool’s NASR sight reduction method, I see a “DR-LOP Distance” value of 0.7nm A.  What is meant by the “DR-LOP Distance?”

While I did provide the NASR method with my Ho and the object’s GHA and Dec (in this case that of the SunLL) I did not provide Celestial Tool’s NASR method with the precise information regarding the nature of the celestial object such as time, or day, or year, or or for that matter what the object was.  It does not require that specificity.  That, in and of itself, reeks of smoke and mirrors if not a bona fide BLACK BOX.

    Steve
