Thanks for the reply. I sorted how to make the gores using a program called Hugin. See attached. I'm starting with the US Hydrographic Office Navigation Star chart which is a nice high res PDF. Anyone know how I can get a copy in a high res image format such as PNG. All the conversions I have tried produce a very poor image. Fall back will be to copy individual constellations and shrink them down appropriatly but It's going to be a real fiddle and not very accurate.
