That looks beautiful. Thanks for the information and inspiration. Having messed about with software for a day I've decided it can be done that way but given the information density it's going to look better and be more accurate plotting the stars by hand using a dry rub transfer medium after using a jig to mark meridian lines. Going from the star map to globe, positions will be correct but the symbols and names get very distorted towards the poles when using software to make the gores. I might still have a go at making gores by hand.
