As the last tme I renewed my license was in 1998 have had but little experience with the modern USCG exam system, however, what little I have had leads me to believe the system is faulty. It is my understanding that the USCG hires an outside group, with little or no direct marine experience, to prepare the exams. I could write a book on my experiences in the last renewal I went through - it was really a joke from beginning to end. But then again seagoing ain't what it was either.
