    Celestial nav trainer manual 1943
    From: Paul Hirose
    Date: 2024 Dec 12, 12:51 -0800

Among the documents at this site is manual AN 08-25-17: "INSTALLATION,
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS, CELESTIAL NAVIGATION TRAINER
    AN-2554-1", May 20, 1943.

    https://digitalcollections.museumofflight.org/items/browse?collection=882&page=6

"The AN-2554-1 Trainer is a synthetic training device making available
to pilots, navigators, bombardiers, and radio operators simulated flying
conditions in daylight, darkness, or both in sequence, depending upon
the type and length of problem that is to be used."

The four students sit in a fuselage capable of unlimited rotation in
heading and limited rotation in pitch and roll. A turbulence system can
    produce erratic motion.

Incandescent lamps on a rotating dome simulate the sky. A few stars are
simulated by collimators so they can be shot by sextant from the
    astrodome at the navigator's station.
