    I wondered if the missing α Cas could be due to algorithmic colour filtering. Its surface temperature is 4500K, whilst β, γ, δ and ε are all whiter with respective surface temperatures of 7000K, 25000K, 8000K and 15000K. 

    Not so, however, as closer study shows that two fainter stars between α and γ (HIP 4292 and HIP 4422) have temperatures of 4700K and 5000K and these have not been excluded.
