At the Wickware Planetarium, Eastern Connecticut State University:
Second Star Show of the Semester – Monday September 26 at 5:30
Hear Frank Reed talk on Celestial Navigation and the Autumn Skies where you’ll learn the essential elements of navigating the globe using the stars and a sextant. Frank will focus on finding latitude from the height of the North Star and the important technique of using nearby stars like the Big Dipper to refine that latitude and make it accurate to the nearest mile. You'll also learn some autumn constellations, like Pegasus and Andromeda and Perseus and find a unique astronomical gem in each, including a natural clock in the sky discovered over 200 years ago by a backyard astronomer.
Public star shows are intended for ages 10 and up. The shows are free but you will need a ticket to reserve your seat. For ticket reservations, contact
