Thanks to all that have replyed to my question. Yes, in the past cel-nav was used on land - Mason and Dixion were astronomers, Lewis and Clark, etc. etc.
My question was more to the people here - has any one of you used cel-nav for anything other than sailing or flying.
About 45 years ago I tried to find my campsite in rural Wyoming using methods my navigator had shown me. ( No GPS back then ) Not too good but in the ballpark. Years later during the first gulf war I would deliver store bought GPS units to friends who were getting lost in the desert. That was in 1990 and the GPS was very new.
Just wondering if anyone had to use cel-nav for their work or emergency in OUR lifetime.
Thanks again to all.
