Yes, that's it. The only difference between your indexing table and the Ultradex is (most likely) the accuracy and repeatability of the two systems. But otherwise, the same.

To help other members to visualise face gears I have attached a photo of the gear faces of a small indexing table I made about fifteen years ago, with an inset showing an enlarged view of some teeth. Advancing by one tooth indexes 3 degrees.
The differential indexing method of, e.g. 1/360 tooth forward and 1/361 teeth back to advance 10 seconds has I believe been used in advance-retard mechanisms in motor bikes a long time ago, with smaller numbers of teeth, of course.
