The new release of Navigational Algorithms free software includes Chart Work:

Is free software for doing traditional paper chart work on an ECS (Electronic Chart System) like plotting bearings, ranges, horizontal angles, celestial LoPs and GC routes. See:

• Celestial Navigation http://opencpn.org/node/102
• Coastal Navigation http://opencpn.org/node/101

You can use the generated GPX file as input to:

·         OpenCPN (free ECS) with nautical charts : CMAP or NOAA RCN/ECN S57 (free for USA http://www.charts.noaa.gov/?Disclaimer=noaa%21nos@ocs%23mcd&Submit=Proceed+to+Chart+Downloader )

·         Google Earth

Also You can plot celestial circles of position (some screenshots are attached):

• With CelestialFix.exe using the World Vector Shoreline (WVS)

·         With OpenCPN by a GPX file generated with Chart Work.exe or  CelestialFix.exe (this last option includes the running fix)

·         With Google Earth importing the GPX file.
