By way of practice, if you were thinking of buying an A7, which is also quite small, you might like to ask the vendor of this item why anyone would want to take the sextant altitude of their own navel? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-U-S-WWII-Army-Air-Corps-Type-A-7-Aircraft-Octant-By-Bendix-Aviation/264545809637?hash=item3d9828b4e5:g:C38AAOSwZy1d27jb DaveP
Well, I couldn't resist it in the end, especially as there was no excessive US to Uk postage or customs to worry about. I managed to knock this particular A7 down from £99.99 plus £7,20 p&p to £59.99 inc free p&p, so now I have a seedy looking A7 to add to my seedy looking A10, and A10A awaiting renovation. They do smell nice though, that wonderful unforgetable aroma of rubber, whiskey, tobacco, aviation POLs, scientific instrument, and military stores. I'd love to be able to bottle it. Note to self: Please stop looking at eBay. DaveP
