    Folks,

I have noticed over the past few months, that a certain amount of personal
"slagging" has been going on. I am not the moderator, nor the owner, nor the
founder of any of these sites so I am not trying to act as the site sheriff,
however, as a participant of many years, I'd like to remind all that we
should treat each other with respect and avoid personal attacks and "catty"
comments. There are ways to disagree -- even vehemently -- with another list
member without resorting to jaded inferences, pendantic reprovals and open
hostility. If you think someone is full of ***t, fine, but try to articulate
your sentiments with academic and polite rebuttals.

Frank Reed seems to have been the focus of a few "off" comments. I don't
believe for a minute that he is trying to subvert the old list and replace it
with a new one under his control. Frank perceived that there is a serious
problem with the old list and attempted to do something about it. Personally
-- and this is only because I am not as computer savvy as most folks -- I did
not see any major problems with the old site, other than periods of radio
silence and the occasional delayed/lost messages, however that does not mean
that there is not a problem. I lament the passing of the old list because it
is the one I first signed onto and through it, I have met some fascinating
folks. But Dan Hogan is moving on, no one seems to want to step in and take
over the old list and Frank has offered us an alternative. At the end of the
day, whoever doesn't want to go along with Frank, is free to go elsewhere or
    take over NAV-L.

I agree with a few others that the club will remain the same; we are only
meeting at a different place. Is it really that big a deal? I will continue
to patronize both sites until this is sorted out or until the old list sails
off into the sunset. Either way, I still get the benefit of some informative
    and interesting discussion.

So please gents, let's try to be civil to one another and keep this list -
wherever it may be - friendly and collegial.

    Robert
