    Hi:

I stopped by your Mystic  classroom on Saturday. I was working for the day as a Pilot volunteer. Wanted to say hello at about 4 PM, but you were going full-speed ahead. By 5:00-5:30 PM , everyone was gone.  Sorry to have missed you.

Glad to see that the room was mostly full.  Will see you one of these days.

    Regards,

    Bruce

    CELESTIAL NAVIGATION CLASSES

    • Modern Celestial Navigation: October 18-19, 2014. An easy introduction to sextants and celestial sights, latitude by Noon Sun, navigation apps and calculator methods, position fix by observing artificial satellites, and compass bearing by Sun and stars.
    • Celestial Navigation: 19th Century Methods: November 1-2, 2014. An introduction to sextants and celestial sights from a historical perspective, focusing on the actual logbook entries and navigational calculations from Mystic Seaport's famous 1841 whaleship, the Charles W. Morgan. We'll learn latitude by Noon Sun and longitude by "time sights" using traditional tables and pencil and paper calculations.
    • Lunars: Finding Longitude by Observing the Moon: November 15-16, 2014. An intermediate level class in the famous method of finding longitude by lunar distances, known for short as "lunars". Follow in the footsteps of James Cook, William Bligh, Nathaniel Bowditch, and Joshua Slocum.

All classes are offered at Mystic Seaport Museum, Mystic, CT. Other details at ReedNavigation.com. Mystic Seaport Reservations: 860-572-5322, press 1 at the prompt. Or call ReedNavigation: 401-644-6012 for private tutorials, classroom workshops, and general questions.
