A history professor friend of mine is teaching a couple classes underway
in New England this summer on the 110-year-old fishing schooner Lettie
G. Howard -- a great boat!

These are college undergrad classes, but enrollment is open to the
public and I thought some of the members of this list might be interested.

Tim's a great teacher who's been doing these summer classes on various
schooners and square rigs for five years.

Details are below.

Two Summer Sailing/Education Opportunities:

Earn College Credit While Cruising Under Sail this
Summer aboard the schooner Lettie G. Howard!

Maritime History/Sail Training Courses:

  These maritime history courses are taught at sea;
students live aboard an historic schooner and visit
several of New England's best historic ports and
maritime museums.  Students receive instruction in
sail training and help the professional crew to sail
the vessel.  In two intensive weeks, students earn
credit for a one-semester course, as well as a sail
training certificate (students must complete a
research paper after leaving the ship).
