Yes checked azimuth. One neat trick is it turn the boat slowly but within a few minutes. Even if you don't know the azimuth you have the Fourier coefficients for compass correction except the constant term. Much easier than transits and pelorus. Billĺ

If you have a GPS position and UT time of image then the reflected Sun or shadow on compass card can be checked with an azimuth reduction.

Date: 2016 Mar 20, 17:18 -0700Took this this morning at 0907 in Hartlepool and thought folks might be interested. There is a huge error as we are next to a massive steel column that secures the pontoon. It should be 306 True 307 Magnetic.
