The regulation for navigation lights here also used points to define the arcs that need to be covered. An all around masthead light is a "32 point" ling and the side lights must shine "from dead ahead to 2 points abaft the beam."

Aircraft nav lights also cover the same sectors but are defined by degrees, the wingtip lights shine from straight ahead to 112.5 degrees, the same as the 10 points.

An 11.25° angle is called a "kompasstreek" [en: compass ???] in Dutch and is still used in formal regulations, like on navigation lights on ships. Is there an English word for this?
