The perspective I'd offer is the philosophical. A navigator is an opportunist, in the best sense of that word. He gathers every scrap of useful data he can and assimilates it into his plot. While not a multi-body fix, a solid LOP is a great piece of information. Add that to your DR course line, and you're much better off than without the LOP. Add it to another LOP which a quck break in the weather might permit hours later, and you're better off still. And Greg's right: simply advance the LOP down your DR track and voila - no need for further science. Is a running fix as good as a simultaneous multi-body fix? Probably not, but it's still a perfectly valid (and more, eminently useful) practice.
