Hello to all,
Yes ! When flying at FL380 over Africa yesterday morning by 03:00 UTC , i.e. on Dec 20th, 2017, I did see Zubenel Genubi quite well with naked eyes (no binoculars). It was close - i.e. not even 1° away - from Jupiter.
One question though : Zubenubi was really faint in the sky even compared to other rather close stars being lower and hence closer to the Sun.
In the French Ephémérides Nautiques (EN) 3 monthly pages, we find more stars than in the UK / US Nautical Almanach (NAL) daily pages. And to the best of my memory Zubenubi (α2 Lib) coordinates are absent from such EN 3 monthly pages.
How come then that Zubenubi is included in the UK / US Nautical Almanach (NAL) daily pages ? Maybe without Zubenubi they would be a significant "gap in the racket" given the stars grid retained by the His Majesty's Admiralty ? Any other anwser anybody ?
