Very likely! You probably saw Zubenelgenubi. :) It's not that unusual from where I live, though of course at your latitude it doesn't get very high. With fainter stars in twilight, it's always a great convenience when a bright object is close by like this.
It's too much fun to say, isn't it? I first learned the name Zubenelgenubi while watching a really bad episode a chidren's science fiction show called Lost in Space when I was perhaps seven years old. It was probably the very first navigational star name I ever learned, and pronounced with a corny English accent.
