Frank,
I couldn't agree with you more - re: your
last sent sentence. Yes, you're right about the AVG too. BTW, I was
only attempting to be helpful, no scaremongering or malicious intentions,
so far away. Carry on navigating :-)
Cheers,
Tony

Tony you wrote:
"He downloaded the SunGraph application well over a year ago, from the web.
He cannot remember from which site etc. Anyway, the short version of the tale is
after installing his new anti-virus s/w a Trojan called Backdoor Punctes.A was
uncovered in the original download and in the set-up files of SunGraph.
So tread carefully."
Always gotta be on the look-out for virus infections, but I think you
will find that this is a well-known "false positive" from a cheap (as in free)
anti-virus product, most likely Grisoft's AVG which was known for false
alarms in some earlier versions. You can look into it on the web. There was no
trojan or virus involved in SunGraph, and serious anti-virus software, e.g.
Norton, would not have "cried wolf". SunGraph is FINE, as are various other
products which were mistakenly flagged by said antivirus software.
And I agree with you 100% that we need to tread carefully when downloading
software (at all times), but I personally believe that we need to be
careful with virus stories, as well.
