Renee Mattie, referring to Bennett's "The Complete On-Board Celestial Navigator", said- >Over the summer, >George Huxtable pointed out its weaknesses. Bennett alludes >to the same weaknesses (body close to horizon or directly overhead). No, Renee, those weren't the weaknesses I pointed out. I pointed to the major errors, of several degrees, that could arise in the predicted azimuths of bodies that were anywhere near East or West of the observer. There was no mention of those errors in the book, but George Bennett, in a posting to this list, accepted that such errors were present and has stated that he would include a note to that effect for future purchasers of his book. Because of that, and because we have given the weaknesses in Bennett's book a good airing, I would prefer not to dwell any further on that topic, if possible.
