My dad, also a DC3 pilot in WW2 (Pacific),is on his last several  breaths, 94.5 years old and on hospice.   I also am a pilot and would treasure such an item. However if others are interested that is fine.

Your Dad must really have treasured that item.  It's in beautiful shape.

But I don't want it.  It should go to a better home than mine.   I just wanted to thank your Dad for his service to our country during WWII.

My mom just died, and Dad - aged 93 - has moved out of his home.  As I was clearing out his office today, I came upon a Dalton E-6B which Dad would have used as a pilot during WWII.  He flew C-47s (i.e. DC-3s) in North Africa, Italy, Greece, and France.

Would anybody like this?  If only 1 person cares to have it, then I will drop it in an envelope and mail it to you.  If several are interested, then I would be pleased to trade it for something else..I know not what.  I enjoy:

    • small boat navigation (the E-6B seems to disregard all speeds lower than 30 knots, so it is not really *my* sort of navigation),
    • celestial nav, and
    • slide rules of various sorts.

If you have something in your collection that is unimportant to you, but that you think I might enjoy - and you want to have an E-6B - then maybe we can trade.

I am having enough of a trying time cleaning out Mom and Dad's memories without trying to recycle an item that Dad kept in his desk for 70 years.  It was important to him.  So it would make me happy if somebody from NavList that was interested in this E-6B could take it.  I am not looking for any cash to change hands.

    The construction is all-plastic.

Probably it would be best to reply to me via private mail, rather than to the entire list.

    Bob
