Hello!
The tritium-powered red light tubes that I've ordered have arrived.
It's a total disappointment - they are far, FAR too dim to illuminate anything. The photo at the seller's site could possibly be made with a VERY long exposure - like those necessary for breathtaking Milky Way pictures. My tubes glow in the darkness so they are just noticeable themselves, that's all...
:(
The only consolation I can invent for myself is that I still could not use an illuminated FREIBERGER even for lunar sights - without an artificial horizon I will not be able to measure heights in the darkness necessiating the use of scale's illumination. I should have thought of it first.
:)
Hope that helps someone intending to use tritium tubes in their sextants.
Regards,
Tony
