Davis Mark 25 telescope : how to clean ?

I'm trying to improve my Davis Mark 25 telescope.
It seems to have something on the inside surface. I tried cleaning it w/ lens cloth, water & microfiber cloth, but it's still kinda couldy. Can you recommend any other cleaning methods ?
Also, I'd like to use it w/o my glasses, but it doesn't quite focus, so I'm thinking of cutting housing to allow it to focus. What could go wrong ...?
