I just needed 'pemission'. I, indeed, wanted to emulate the graceful motion I've seen in the videos. Presetting makes a lot of sense and I have indeed been sucessful using this rather obvious technique. And the shadow on the shirt? I use that all the time with my astronomical telescope when looking at the Sun,. as the finder scope doesn't have a filter. Any part of the telescope with an axis along the direction of view works just fine/ I even mounted two toothpicks at either end of the tube! That works great. Thanks, all for your very practical advice.
