Hi,
that, I believe, is actually a Mark X and not a Mark 12. The Mark X was Davis' first "Master Sextant" with the looks of the real thing and the same vernier as the Mark III and only a sight tube. It bore the full street address, housenumber and all. That turned into a bit of a problem when Davis became so successfull they had to move to bigger premises. "That taught us something about putting a complete address into the casting", a Davis spokesman told me. The next model, the Mark 12, still had the same vernier reading to two minutes, but it had a more versatile post box address.
