Frank,
I just read Bob's message and now understand why the Sumner LOP method did not catch on very quickly. Even now, when almost all navigators understand the concept of a LOP the time sight is thought of as Longitude and needing a noon sight for Latitude. The idea that two time sights with slightly different latitudes will produce a LOP as good as the StHilary intercept LOP seems hard to grasp.
