Instead of computing two points with differing Latitudes, can you just compute Azimuth and draw a line through the one point you computed perpendicular to the azimuth? I have used this method using the traditional haversine method with logs for computing the time sight and Norie's ABC tables for azimuth, and it seems to yields a reasonable line of position.
It does not seem to matter what time of day you shoot your altitude.
