Hello!
I think to try a two-pass approach to the direct calculation method:
- take two sights and do all the calculations according to the 7.5x formulas (pretending both sights were taken simultaneously) - thus obtaining a preliminary position;
- using that preliminary position data - to consult the H.O.249 vol 1 regarding the azimuth of the body of the earlier sight;
- with the azimuth (though not precisely accurate) do the advance of the H1 to the moment of time of the second sight;
- now one may repeat all the 7.5x formulas with the advanced H1 - hoping to arrive to a reasonably more accurate position fix.
Please comment.
Regards,
Tony
