When I first learned celestial navigation, it involved picking an assumed position (AP) that was reasonably close to the DR position and using Pub. 249 to do sight reduction.
Now, that I am using a calculator to solve the navigational triangle, I no longer use an AP. In other respects, my approach is the same as it always was. I simply have eliminated the use of Pub. 249 or Pub. 229.
Is it correct to say that I am still using the Intercept Method, or the St. Hilaire Method? I guess that even after all these years, I am fuzzy on the meaning of the phrase "Intercept method".
Thanks for your help.
