Determine dip for an overlook near the shore
    From: Bob Goethe
    Date: 2017 Oct 30, 14:09 -0700

Determining dip is pretty simple if I am standing right at the water's edge.  But if I am standing on a hill or cliff, what is my best way to determine dip?

Is it feasible to relate my height above "mean sea level" from a topographic map to the state of the tide to come up with my actual height above the water's surface?

    Thanks,

    Bob
