How about us getting a deviation table for our ships steering compass?
A Napier diagram would do fine!
I think any navigator coming aboard a 40 ft sloop to navigate wants
and needs to know the compass deviation table.
Dan, I'm sorry for the scrambled leg 17 report but I sent it back to
myself and it came back intact ? ?
The list mentioned a few months ago an interesting book re.
navigation on a freighter - it was "Looking for a ship" and I found it very
interesting.
But I recently found a book telling the other side of the story : "Steaming
to Bamboola".
The first book is about a US flagged ship run properly, the second
is about a non US flagged tramp freighter with qualities that suggest we
need to be wary of them at sea.
These are both available on "Books-on-tape" The author of Looking...
is John McPhee; and the author of ...Bamboola is Chris Buckley - a son of
one of THE Buckleys.
