    Differences between computing devices

    Anyone:

I've seen references to, and an article by Ed Popko regarding a device described as follows:

Computer, Air Navigation, Celestial Azimuth, Type CP-300/U FSN 6605-557-0778. Mr. Popko's illustrated article is entitled CP-300/U USAF Star Finder. These is currently or was one recently listed for sale on ebay.

I have a similar device, described as follows on the cover of a brief manual that came with it.

Computer-Air Navigation, Celestial Azimuth Air Forc Type CPU-50A/P FAA-114B

There is a double sided star base North and South labeled with each, and a number of removable Templates for North and South Latitudes. There are moveable discs rivited to the Latitude Templates with my device. These do not appear in the illustrations part of Mr. Popko's article, nor do I see them in the pictures that are included in the ebay listing.

I assume that the operation of the two devices is similar, however I'm curious as to which of the two is the most recent. Also, those rotatable discs on the latitude templates, the ones ranging from 35 Degrees to 85 Degrees in 10 Degree incremets leave me curious.

Any information/clarificaion appreciated. Thanks in advace.

    Alan
