Hi,
Here is a little study I have written last year about the double altitude problem for calculating latitude. It's written in french.
If you are interested, I have also studies (in french) about the double chronometer problem and works of Rosser and A. C. Johnson ("Cloudy Weather Johnson").
My study about Louis Pagel is not finished.
