Yes, the Transactions of the Royal Society have been available on the
Gallica web site for a few years. Here's the index:
I much prefer the interface from the society itself, which you pointed out,
George. The interface for Gallica has "quirky" behavior, maybe even buggy.
Another important navigational periodical that you'll find via Gallica is
the French "Maritime Review". Look for an article by E. Guyou entitled (in
French) "The Method of Lunar Distances: Present, Past, and Future" from
1902.
