I think it all depends upon why you’re studying the subject.  As it’s relatively well recorded, it gives a good opportunity for a historical study of the navigational aspects of what might have happened.  It’s not my field, but there must also be a vast amount of material for a professional study of the aero-medical effects of sustained fatigue and pressure to succeed.  My only gripe is that so few articles mention Fred Noonan in depth, and when he is mentioned, credit isn’t always given to his vast former experience as an air as well as a marine navigator.  Please will someone tell me how to make the question appear in the same item as my answer?
