Am I the only who thinks the obsession with Amelia Earhart's tragic disappearance and death borders on morbid voyerism?
The story of the continuing interest in the Earhart mystery is apparently the cover story of January's issue of Smithsonian magazine:
http://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/will-search-for-amelia-earhart-ever-end-180953646/There's a comment from Tom Crouch, who is listed as "senior curator of aeronautics at the NASM" saying "Ric is in the business of taking wealthy people on an archaeological adventure, Indiana Jones-style." And that is my impression as well. They're not quite as bad as "bigfoot hunters" but they're close.
