I would just add that the most logical place for the plane is north to north-northeast of Howland, east of the 337 degree LOP. since the last deep water search searched west of the LOP. Although I advised them to search this area they were swayed by the lady with the "Noonan used the wrong date in his almanac since they crossed the international dateline!" theory. When she posted her theory on TIGHER (years ago) I sent her a long disertation as to why she was wrong but she never replied. I did meet her in Atcheson two years ago and showed her the 1937 Nautical Almanac (thanks again Frank) and she admitted to her error.
