Mal,
Looks like a star overhead problem to me! On page xxxiii (near the end
of the grey pages in my commercial version) there is an Index To
Selected Stars
Turns out that the declination of Sirius is very near the same as the
latitude of our destination. All we need to do is calculate the UT when
the body passes over the destination and aim the boat at the star.
So, Lo at destination = GHA Sirius at some UT
GHA Sirius = 145d (rounded - I'm a little short of time)
+360
(-)SHA Sirius = 259d
-------------------------
GHA Aries = 246d which occurs around 1200 UT
Then 1200 UT
+10 ZD (rev)
------------
0200 ZT at destination
Certainly before sunrise anywhere in the region.
This what you had in mind?
