Purchased a copy of Leonard Gray's 100 Problems in Celestial Navigation from you at the Annapolis Boat Show this fall. Just started in on the problems. Three items have come to light. Please bear in mind that I am new at this having done about 20 sight reductions total. Very possibly the errors are mine and mine alone. The questions that I have are:
- There is an errata sheet mentioned in The Navigator's Newsletter issue 89 page 2. (http://www.starpath.com/foundation/NN-vol-4.pdf) Do you know where I might get a copy of the errata?
- Problem 1-1: The Hs for Rasalhague is listed as 51d 05.2m on 13 May 1993 at 07-35-16 GMT. Hc from HO-229 for the triangle 025d LHA, 40dN Latitude and 12dN declination is 54d 21.9m which corrects via interpolation to 54d 49.8m. Over 003d different from Hs. Is the Hs an error or deliberate to show that not all sights are taken or read correctly?
- Problem 1-2: The Hs for the moon (UL) ranges from 24d 33.4m on 13 May 1993 at 12-29-16 GMT to 24d 54.7m at 12-26-14. Hc from HO-229 for the triangle 039d LHA, 40dN Latitude and 09dS declination is 28d 28.1m which corrects via interpolation to 28d 16.6m. Over 003d different from Hs. Suspect that this is a printer's error rather than a lesson in discarding data that far out from expectation.
