I have a friend, who is now 75, who learned to fly in the Air Cadet Force as a young lad and tried to get into the Royal Air Force. Part of the testing for admission was a test for colour blindness, in which it was discovered that he was blue-green colour blind. My friend asked why that mattered? He was told that when flying over the sea it was important that the pilot be able to tell the difference between the sky and the sea. He was turned down.
