Re: Everyday Wear CN Analog (any stopwatch suggestions?)

    Paul,

The stopwatch should be able to do split times so that multiple observations can be made off a single start relative to the chronometer. Water and shock resistance would be the next important features to have. Analog, digital, quartz, or mechanical will be left to navigators preference.

Another option is to use a conventional stopwatch for each observation to be made with all started at the same time off the chronometer. I have never tried this but have seen it done. The purpose seems to be to save time during the short twilight period as well as to preserve time for double checking. Sextant readings still need to be written down unless multiple sextants are available. A pair of sextants preset to Hs and a pair of stopwatches started off the chronometer should result in a very quick fix with data preserved. I just may give this a try.

    Greg,
Thanks for the pointer to the citizen watch! Navigation aside, it looks like a great all-around watch whenever one wants reliability and can't wear their pretty watch bec of risk of dirt/damage.

Now do you have any thoughts on what makes an ideal stopwatch for celnav?
