In my days at school this sort of thing would count as extra credit on our
sea project. It also included more standard things like daylight fixes by
crossing the moon, Venus, and sunlines; ex-meridians, moon transits, high
altitude circles, etc. They called it "Bonus exotica." Being cadets,
we called it "bonus erotica."
I had many, many bonus exotica sights in my notebook.

For those who are working through the Ex-meridian / LOP exercise I would like to point out that this type of CN falls into the category ( which I have just now made up ) of stunt fixing. Even the running fix of a LAN and Sun LOP 28 minutes or so before or after LAN can be classified as something close to a CN stunt fix. My preference and recommendation is for at least a 45� cut on LOP's.
