Nearly four years ago, I wrote a NavList message as follows:
Any of you who are on Facebook, feel free to contact me at www.facebook.com/FrankEReed. I realize that for most of you, Facebook seems pretty damn stupid, and it is. But as I was explaining to someone a few days ago, sometime in the past year they bought the entire freaking planet. So I intend to use their services to see if we can drum up a little new blood for NavList among other things. I don't expect much since Facebook is an extremely "lite" activity (spelling intentional).
Facebook has expanded since then, and it has become a little less stupid, but still pretty stupid! In any case, the small celestial navigation group that we have over there has reached a tipping point and finally supports some interesting conversations, though it could just be a momentary blip. There are many familiar faces there, and also lots of new people, especially from the far side of the globe. Those of you with FB accounts, if you have not already done so, join us at https://www.facebook.com/groups/CelestialNavigation/. FB is still very much a place for "lite" conversations, but it's very popular and it has big advantage that "you're going there anyway". I see the NavList message boards as superior for somewhat lengthier, content-laden material, and these are complementary activities, not competitive. Two is better than one.

PS: If you find Facebook utterly repugnant, an abomination, the odious product of the Evil Zuckerberg Himself, no problem. It is all of that, too! :)
