False horizon under the Moon, under the Sun too?

Hello!
While taking a Moon sight at night there is the high probability on an error - the visible moon-glade end is not at the horizon proper.
Are there any conditions when (in the day light) the end of the Sun glare is not at the horizon but looks like it is?
Several times I saw a seamless transition from the water surface to an "apparent sky" - without any hint whatsoever. There was a "sun-glade" also melting into nothing while the Sun was visible clearly (not through a fog)...
Warm regards,
Tony
