Hello:
After reading Outward Bound, Chaper 14 "Mixter", about a cruise leaving Long Island Sound , I decided that someday I would take a trip from Provincetown (Cape Cod) to Boston, MA. This brief trip would be an ideal time to practice CN on a rapidly moving vessel. I know that several NavList contributors teach coastal navigation, so maybe some of this data are useful. The attached document shows all of my CN sight data taken with an Astra. I have selectively looked at the data, but not done a complete reduction because something always seems to come up. Since the Great Circle problem is mostly resolved, I thought it would be appropriate to take a short summer cruise across Massachusett Bay. I hope there are no blunders.
It was a fun cruise and many people asked questions. A few people wanted to look at the sextant; one sailboat owner wanted a brief lesson.
Happy New Year and, maybe, enjoy this cruise.
Regards,
Bruce
