Facinating. However, in the mid '70s Naval, Marine, Coast Guard, USAF, Air National Guard, Air Reserve, NATO and other allied nations' fixed wing navigation students learned at the Mather AFB consolidated air navigation school to set their watches to GMT during preflight ;-). Although, we also learned how the "clocking" of the Chair of Cassiopia relative to the 'pole' star might be used to determine an approximate correction to the observed 'latitude.'
