Photos of my simple tangent screw. Traditional wooden clothes peg provides gentle but adequate grip for large movements, then clamp and use screw for fine adjuctment. Seems to work fine. Can easily be removed to take Davis 3 back to original basic. Next project, add a small telescope.Anyone done this? Burch describes how to do it.
Great sextant for teaching fumbling, clumsy 12 year olds, I have found. It seems to take a drop and knock better than the tough metal ones which bend and stay bent. Like on my car. The plastic lower wings seem to "bend" to knocks and bounce back.Steel seems to stay bent.
Best wishes
Francis
