Apologies if this has come up before (and please direct me to the appropriate thread!)...
I'm looking for information on early First Nations navigation, particularly around Vancouver Island and Haida Gwaii. I can't find much about how indigenous coastal peoples of the northern Pacific navigated, and what I have found is very flowery/romantic along the lines of vague references to using 'the knowledge of thousands of years of travel' etc. I'm looking for something more specific, like, did they practice celestial navigation? All that keeps coming up is Polynesia etc. I don't know if there's a connection.
Looking to educate myself. Any info, links, books, articles etc. extremely welcome.
Thank you!
Carly
