yes Slocum page 243. President kruger. "Wonderful" character. "...nough" said as we say in England. He ruled S Africa while believing the world was flat. Had a few other policies, equally eccentric,mostly relating to skin melanocyte concentration/activity (actually, modern science says it is activity , not numbers of cells) , we presumably cannot discuss here as "off topic". At the same time, Slocum met Dr Gill at the the Cape Observatory who was a world class astronomer, mapping the Southern stars! So takes all sorts to make a world.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose (also , I think true of Cel Nav, where most of what we discuss here (apart from modern GPS etc) seems to have been discussed in detail hundreds of years ago!)
